About

I got the idea to start this blog because I wanted to get into the habit of writing again. I also wanted to motivate myself to read more of the books I already own. I was hoping my HUGE number of TBR books would be a regular reminder that I should be spending more time reading them and less time browsing bookstores. I've been trying to take a break from acquiring new books, but this is something I'm still working on -- the contents of my shelves seem to keep multiplying despite my best intentions!

I read both adult and YA fiction and I'm in a real-life YA book club. I really do read a little bit of everything -- historical fiction and books incorporating gothic elements, buried secrets, or family histories are some of my favorites. I also read graphic novels, comics, fantasy, suspense, non-fiction, memoirs, humor, books-about-books, food-related books, and cookbooks. I read almost exclusively in print and on audio. I usually only pick up an ebook if it's the only edition available (or the occasional ebook borrowed from my library). I'm a big Harry Potter fan and my favorite adult series is Diana Gabaldon's Outlander saga.

I want to read more classics, so I've joined The Classics Club. I also have a particular interest in banned books (many are classics!) Because of this interest, I'm hosting a Banned Books reading challenge for the fourth year now. Thanks for stopping by and happy reading!
