Top Ten Tuesday (#25): Summer TBR List

This is my very first time participating in a seasonal TBR Top Ten Tuesday, and I must admit writing up this list has got me totally psyched for summer! Last year I was lucky if I read 10 books in a season, period. But I'm flying through books lately -- audio books, short books, kids' books, review books -- pretty much a little bit of everything, so I feel I actually can come up with a TOP TEN instead of just THE TEN I hope to read. A good chunk of this list is review catch-up, but with so many great titles, I seriously don't know where to start! (For more info on any of these books, click on the title to view on GoodReads.)

From my Dusty Shelves:

1. Game of Thrones, by George R.R. Martin
2. Gameboard of the Gods, by Richelle Mead

From the Review Pile:

May Releases
3. Bittersweet, by Miranda Beverly-Whittmore
4. The Heiresses, by Sarah Shepherd
5. The Secret Life of Violet Grant, by Beatriz Williams
6. The Immortal Crown, by Richelle Mead

June/July Releases
7. That Summer, by Lauren Willig
8. The Home Place, by Carrie La Seur
9. The Fortune Hunter, by Daisy Goodwin
10. The Major's Daughter, by J.P. Francis

BONUS!

From My Library Wishlist (Audio):
One Man Guy, by Michael Barakiva
Where'd You Go Bernadette, by Maria Semple
The Hidden Child, by Camilla Läckburg
The Weight of Blood, by Laura McHugh
Dark Places, by Gillian Flynn
Sharp Objects, by Gillian Flynn

For Book Club:
If I Stay, by Gayle Forman

Looks like it's going to be an awesome summer! And if I get burnt out on review books or need a change of pace, we all know I have plenty of other books to choose from. I will be very interested to see at the end of the season how closely (or not!) I stuck to this list.

What are you planning to read this summer?

  1. This looks like a great list! I have no idea what I'm going to read this summer (and so lists like this one help me a lot). I have several ebooks I haven't read yet, but I'm also an impulse book-buyer. We'll see what happens!

    1. I am a total impulse book-buyer too! I'm a mood reader too, but sometimes I feel the need for a bit of a plan if I want to make sure I get to certain titles. I hope you enjoy whatever you choose to read this summer :)

  2. So many great books! I love making seasonal TBR piles because it gets me all excited about reading! I think you will really enjoy Where'd You Go Bernadette. If I stay was a really good book as well. I can't wait to see what you think of The Heriesses. I keep debating about reading it but it would be easier to decide if you read it first. :) I hope you kick butt on your TBR pile!

    1. Sometimes I find them restricting, but I think I'm reading enough books lately that it feels much less so this time around -- more like a reminder pf "hey you really want to read these, remember?!"

Glad you enjoyed a few of these & I'll definitely report back on the Heiresses :)

  3. I really need to read so more of Gillian Flynn's work - Gone Girl is not the be all and end all after all (that was a lot of all's).

It looks like you have some great summer reads lined up, and we're in for some interesting reviews I believe. Hopefully you get to read the books collecting dust (:-P), I'm hoping to decrease the amount of books I currently have sitting on my unread shelf.

    Enjoy future reads!

    1. I'm definitely going with audio for Flynn -- I started with audio for Gone Girl and think I will just stick with it.

And I have soooooo many reviews backed-up to write & the summer just promises to add to the pile! I think I may need to do a few round-ups/mini reviews soon before I forget everything I read. Good luck on decreasing your unread shelf -- it's always fun, but not always the easiest thing to do!

  4. Where'd You Go, Bernadette? is such a fun, funny read--great pick for summer! I also love both of those Gillian Flynn books, especially Dark Places.

  5. You have the same books on your shelf gathering dust as I do, although I think mine is cyber dust. Great pile. I'm just going to envy rather than add at this stage as my pile is out of control! Happy reading!

    1. I love the idea of cyber dust! I can't hide my pile away since I'm mostly a paper-book girl... Restraint when adding to the pile is key, but I'm not very good at it :) Thanks for stopping by!

  7. Game of Thrones! Yay! I'm reading Clash of Kings right now and it's SUCH a fantastic series. I read Sharp Objects and Dark Places this year and really, really enjoyed them. Hope you do too!

    1. Thanks Bonnie! I'm really excited to finally dive into Game of Thrones -- I'm hoping since it's a huge, expansive saga I will just get lost in it like I have with the Outlander series in the past -- such huge books can be intimidating, but they also don't have to end so soon :)
