Quick Poll: 2014 Banned Books Challenge, Yay or Nay?

Since I've been starting to choose which challenges I want to join for 2014, I've been wondering if anyone other than me would be in interested in doing another Banned Books Challenge for the new year. I failed miserably this year, so would like to try again! I'd make it a full year-long challenge this time and I'd probably change up the levels so there are options to do fewer books. If there is any interest, I will be happy to host, just let me know what you think!

Would you participate?

P.S. I re-opened the 2013 linky because it came to my attention that not everyone was finished linking up their posts. Since I was offering no prizes and we've got a relatively small group, I see no problem bending the rules :) So if you have any outstanding reviews or wrap-up posts, please feel free to link them up through the end of the year. (And if you have any reviews of banned books you read after the "official" end date, it's totally OK to link those up as well -- I'm no stickler!)

P.P.S. Apologies to anyone who may have clicked through to this survey when it first went live -- I hadn't realized the poll creator I tried first didn't have an option to view the results. I switched as quickly as I could, but a vote or two may have been missed, oops! Always something new to learn when it comes to blogging, I swear.

  1. Hey sweetheart. I am 50/50 right now. There are so many challenges that I have to limit myself. I have signed up to 11 of them this year but no way am I going to do that again. Maybe half. I think I will base my reading challenges on the books I have at home. I need to do another year of reading the books I have.

That is funny that you posting about doing a reading challenge. I did the same today too!

    1. That's OK! I totally get the temptation of too many challenges. I'm trying to go by what I plan to read/already have as well. I just wanted to put a feeler out and see if I get even just a few yes or maybe answers. If so, I probably will go for it -- it's not a very high maintenance challenge and if I submit it to the Novel Challenges site, will probably be able to find a few more participants from there :)

Will have to check out your challenge as well when I get a chance!

  2. I like the idea but I'm still to see just how much time What's In A Name is going to take up (just started hosting it). I'll have to see how it goes, and it would likely be a joining half-way through the year thing. I'll spread the word though because I know there are many people who like reading them.

    1. Thanks for helping spread the word Charlie! I'm still trying to figure out if I have enough choices to join your challenge -- so many challenges, so little time!

  3. I can't believe it is that time of year again to sign up for challenges. I'm still on the fence if I want to do any since I failed miserably at the ones I did do this year. Besides my goodreads challenge I pretty much did nothing else. :/

    1. I know, right? I did do really well on a few, but completely failed on others (and my overall Goodreads challenge isn't looking so good!) I personally like joining genre-specific ones where I know I'm planning to read at least a few books since it's such a good way to "mingle" with other like-minded readers by browsing the linky with everyone's reviews and having the opportunity to share my own reviews with people who enjoy that genre as well. Probably not the *best* reason to join in the strictest sense, but works for me, and I enjoy the idea of a challenge, even if I don't always live up to my own expectations! :)

  4. Sounds interesting actually, and I'm all for reading banned books. I just don't usually get around to linking up reviews. And, I doubt I'd change my reading habits much to participate. But, it sounds like a good idea.

    1. I personally like to join challenges that line up with I'm already planning to reading, so that certainly makes sense to me! If anything, I usually use challenges as an "excuse" to keep myself on track with my plans and make sure I make time for certain types of books I've been meaning to read, but never get around to for one reason or another.

I have decided to host, so if you decide you'd like to join, you can do so here. And whether or not you link up reviews is up to you -- even just popping back once at the end of the year to leave a comment mentioning the books you read would be nice :)
