SpineSpeak (#2): Happiness Is...

Bookmark To Blog

I went a little overboard this month and used 11 books to create my spine poem (you only need to use 5!) I'm happy to say I used books from my own collection again; however, I am a bit ashamed to admit I haven't read a single one of them! Of course I now want to drop everything to read this lovely pile. I suppose that's not exactly the most realistic plan, but a girl can dream right?
* * * * *

Some girls want
more durable goods --
those pretty, shiny things.
Not me.
I am summer's child:

inhaling the sweet salt air
at the beach house

swimming at night
in the dark tide
to hear the mermaids singing

I would trade all other nights
for a hundred summers --
that is this side of paradise,
for me.

This month's books:
Some Girls, by Jillian Lauren
Durable Goods, by Elizabeth Berg
Summer's Child, by Diane Chamberlain

Next month's theme: Around the world

  1. This is very atmospheric (and summery :)). And you used so many books! I think out of the ones I used I've read only 1 or 2 as well.

    1. Thanks Riv! And glad I'm not the only one who has stacks of unread books!

  2. 11 books! Awesome. Your poem is so creative. Love it.

  3. This looks like so much fun and you did an amazing job! I may have to join in sometime. :)

    1. Thanks Kay -- it really is fun -- I haven't had as much time to blog lately, but I still didn't want to miss this feature :)

  4. Love your poem, we have done these for challenges and it is always fun to see what people will create.

    1. I agree! I love reading other participants' poems :)

  5. What happened to the blog Bookmarkedtoblog?

    1. I don't know! I was so disappointed when I went to go check the schedule and saw the blog and twitter account are both gone :/

I'd love to hear what you think :)
